My Presentation

I thought my presentation went well for it being my first presentation. I was able to answer all of the questions pretty well. I was somewhat nervous for it being my first interview. It was good preparation for the rest of my interviews I will have to go through. I thought I made good eye contact, and that shows confidence. i also tried to stand up straight, so i would not look nervous.

I also have some things I can work on. I was late to the interview, which is a definite no no. was able to still have an interviw, but I was sweating from all the running I had to do to get to the interview as fast as possible. I also was a little unsure as to how long my answes should be. I could answer all the questoins, but I did not know how long to keep on talking or not.

All in all it was a great experience though. I hope I am able to take more mock interviews. It will really help me do well for my dental interview.

Presentatation Afterthoughts

Many of the presentations were very good, but there were certain ones that stook out to me. I really enjoyed Mikes. I am into rock climbing and enjoyed learning more about it. He seemed to have a lot of facts in his presentation that I did not know about. I also liked his idea of handing suckers with his questions because it got the crowd involved. I even got one.

I also liked Adaline's presentation. I liked her idea of giving us fortune cookies to start the presentation, It got me interested into what she was going to talk about. She told a very emotional story about kids who were being stolen from their families and were being used as prostitutes. I know that this happens in Vietnam and sad to see that it happens in other country's also. I hope that this comes to a stop. It just seems so hopeless though. People need to intervene.

Canoe Trip

Two weeks ago I had the pleasure of canoeing with my dad, older brother, and younger brother. I had a big decision to make though. I had a test on monday morning that I had not yet studied for. I had to choose between spending time with my family, a thing I do not get to do much, or study for a test. In the end I decided that family time was more important than a test was. My dad had been planning this trip for a while, and I knew he was looking forward to all of us being there.
The trip was a lot of fun we traveled 25 miles down the French Broad River and even got to stop some where and camp. My brother made an awesome meal, but I guess everything taste good when you are camping. He made fajitas. We finished our last part of the trip by going down a 5 foot falls and hitting a three series rapids with are canoe tipping a few times. Luckily, we had had waster proof bags. In retrospec I think I made the right choice, even though I did not make the grade I was hopeing for on my test. The trip was well worth it.

Interesting Resume Concepts

I read over two articles. One was about getting creative with your resumes and the other was about video resumes. These are two concept that I have never heard of. I have only heard of the conventional resume format, and that you do not want to deviate from it. All th books teach us students to do it the conservative way.

The resume about using different colored ink and making it creative blew me away. It worked for one person though. I guess a perosn would have to get bored looking at those resumes all day, but I also think they would not take the person for serious. Maybe for certain situations it would work. If you were looking for a creative person you may give it more of a look, but you would want to look at the credentials and weigh them more. Hiring someone just because of the way there resume looks would be a serious mistake.

The second article I read talke about video resumes. This worked for a girl that kept on getting rejected. Once again I think this could work for certain situations. If you were applying for a movie editing job it may be a way to show off your skills. I personally like edit film, and think this is a cool idea. The job assessor could just lean back and watch the resume, and would give him a much needed break. You would have to do the video right though. There was a second person who made a resume with him playing tennis and working out. That is just rediculous. If you a video with your resume in it and got creative, than that would be cool.

Job Interviews

There were three things that stuck out to me on the articles I read: removing your wedding ring, doing all nighters, and using faceboook and myspace. I never knew how these random subjects could pertain to job interview.
I never knew that some people remove their wedding bands at interviews that seems so immodest. It almost seems like cheatings. I find that very offenseive that some people would put a job over their marriage. What else do these people put over their job.
In another interview I read thaat all-nighters and facebook are good for learning about the business world. This is very shocking. I never knew though about all nighters being a good thing, but I guess they train you to get last second projects done. Facebook being a good thing for job interviews was odd tooo. I never see anything good from facebook than waasting your time, but the article mentioned that it facillitates communication with people. I think that is pushing it a little because than my little sister who is only in 8th grade is ready for a job. She spends all her time at home on facebook or myspace that it is unhealthy.
There are some odd things I learned from these articles.

My Vision For Life in 10 years

First off I would like to talk about my faith. I believe above all I should follow and commit to his will. "He knows the plans he has for me". My will is his will. Off course I believe that He (God is most glorified) when I am most satisfied, so he does not want me to hate life.

Now that I have introduced first claim my hope to where I will be in the next ten years is working in knoxville. I love knoxville, my home. I love its lakes, its facilities, the fact that it is close to the mountains, and I love its people. Knoxville also has a great church. I have grown up in this church, and I have never found a church where I have grown more. The teaching is great and the music and their mission is great too.

For my proffession I want to be a dentist. it is what I am working to be now. I have shaddowed my dad, and it seems like a job that would fit me. I would be lucjy to work under my dad, a very respected dentist, before he retires and develop great dental skills. I love dentistry because it seems fun seeing new people everyday. I also like the aspect of being my own boss, and not having the governent all over me like Doctors do. Dentists usually choose to not work on Fridays, which I think is great.

Not only would dentisty be a great job because I enjoy it, but it sets me up for a good family life and sets me up to work in missions. Being a dentist leaves you with a lot of free time. It is a 9 to 5 job and so i would be able to spend time with my kids and watching them play sports. I would also have money to and time to spend on missions. my heart Is in Vietnam so i would love to make and impact there.

I would also like to have a beautiful wife in attraction and chararcter, who loves the Lord. I want a big family, who can grow up and make an impact for the Lord. I want to put a lot of love and time into my family. This is my wish for where I will be in 10 years.

Wary of Web 2.0

The title of the video is The Machine is US/ing us. I think think this title has to do with that technology like web 2.0 is moving so fast that we are having to keep learning to pace ourselves with is. The pace is in fact owning us. Web 2.0 has so many features that you can almost live your life on it.
Web 2.0 affects people in the workforce because they have to always research to find out what is new on the web and keep relearning all the new things that are coming out. This create alot of anxiety because they will have to stay up to date while keeping up with their job and taking care of house hold items. Web 2.0 affects people that are trying to enter the workforce inthat they have to already be up to date on it so they can get a job, especially a job that deals with computers. If they are not up to date it will be very hard to get that kind of job. Even if they majored in technology in college, it won't even matter because technology has changed so much.
Web 2.0 can actually be used for some good reasons like communication, but I am scared of where the web is taking us. It is starting to control us, because we can not control it. Anyone can publish anything they want on it, and it is totally impossible to have someone check all of the stuff that is being published. It seems like everyday a new thing comes out on the web that you have to get used to. We will have to rethink how we can control this moving force. It is always comes out with new stuff that makes us have to rethink legality issues, copyright issues, and several other issues. When will it end and where will it take us......
